Los Alcázares - A place to go flying.

Located next to the shores of the Mar Menor, which offers seven kilometres of coastline from Los Narejos to Punta Brava, Los Alcázares is a good place to spend a few days. We stayed at an Aire W3W ref ///quiches.grand.smarted, which was ideally located to serve the reason for our visit - Aeroplanes. So it’s important to say this is a noisy site and you won’t like it if you don’t enjoy the sounds of jet and prop aircraft leaving the runway which is literally at the bottom of the site.

A short walk from the site via a boardwalk, over a nature reserve and you reach the coast line where there is a rather pleasant promenade walk along the shore. The Kite Surfing Club provides for some spectacular scenes and also its bar is a great place to sit and watch the surfers going through their routines.

Los Alcázares is described as the cradle of Spanish Aviation and not only serves as a flight training school it is also the base of the Spanish Airforce Display team Patrulla Águila, albeit the team is in transition as it searches for a future without the now redundant C101 aircraft. Aircraft fly directly over the Aire at low level on both take off and landing. It’s quite a sight.

This was quite a decent place to spend a couple of days , it was the spectacle of the flying , both aircraft and kites that made the difference for us . The Aire is good quality , noise aside , the area is a little tired but not excessively so , there is a supermarket within walking distance and the walk on the sea front is very pleasant , see the images below.
